Director Gareth Edwards Spilled The Beans On Rogue One Easter Eggs

Is it still considered an Easter egg if it’s not a secret?

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first stand-alone Star Wars anthology film, is just a few weeks away from its theatrical release. And while promoting the film on the latest episode of The Star Wars Show, director Gareth Edwards clued fans in1 on various Rogue One Easter eggs.

Specifically, Edwards spilled the beans on some hidden references to his previous films that appear in Saw Gerrera’s cave.

“In Saw’s cave, there are some cave paintings,” Edwards said. “One of them is of the creatures that were in my first film, Monsters. Then there’s some MUTOs from Godzilla.”

Edwards went on to say that although he was aware of the Easter eggs, he was not the one behind them.

“I didn’t ask for it,” Edwards said. “I just came in one day and saw it.”

Aside from Rogue One Easter eggs, the director also gave a few more details about the film, including the name of an all-new planet, which can be seen in the following tweet:

The entire interview with Edwards can be seen below:

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be released on Friday, December 16th, 2016.
