Sesame Street Fighter Is An Incredibly Fun Pop Culture Mashup

The video game you didn’t know you needed.

When it comes to pop culture mashups, we’ve seen our fair share of classics, but this fan-made browser game just might be one of the greatest of all time… seriously. The fact that it took this long for us to get a Sesame Street Fighter game is beyond me, but let’s just be glad that it exists. After watching the video above, in which YouTuber CinnamonToastKen gives Sesame Street Fighter a test drive, you’re going to want to play it immediately. Trust us.

At first glance, it looks like a regular Street Fighter game, but you soon realize that all of the characters are directly out of Sesame Street. Needless to say, it’s absolutely fantastic and utterly hilarious. And did we mention that it’s playable in your browser? Check it out right here.

All of your favorite Sesame Street characters are included: Grover, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, Bert, Ernie, and Elmo. Oh, and the characters are mashups in and of themselves. For instance, the character design of Elmo is done in the style of Street Fighter baddie M. Bison1. Yep. You heard that right.

Once you select your character, your first match begins. To attack your opponent, you are prompted to type different words as fast as you can in order to strike a blow. It’s actually pretty difficult. And very fun.

It may not be officially licensed by Sesame Street or Capcom, but this game just might be your favorite bit of entertainment to come out of either camp in a long time.
